simple little joy



Some joy and beauty in life do not cost a lot of money at all. I have this one little bottle of liquid soup, very ordinary, yet smell amazingly wonderful. I remember  the lady who introduced me to it. She was part of a volunteer Christian group who came to work in Thailand for some years. This group purely live by only the money donated to them. They didn't get any salary at all and they live very down to Earth. We were good friends and before she left my country, she gave me a present and said "it's not expensive because I don't have a lot of money, but I hope it will bring you some joy." I opened the package and found this simple bottle of soap. It's so ordinary and cheap and you can find it in regular supermarket anywhere. I had never bought it before because I thought that it was too cheap to be something of good quality. But the first time I use that soup, oh...my...how wonderful it smells and how soft and tender the bubble cream was!  After that it becomes the regular brand that I often buy and it help me save a lot of money spent on soap and gives me more joy while taking shower. And yesterday my father and my sister asked, "what is the soap you're using, it smells so wonderful!" I begin to recognize then that some simple joy don't have to be expensive yet it can bring so much happiness, and there are some that don't even cost money at all.

I remember the story of a prisoner realizing how precious it is to have a window that you can look out to the sky.

I remember how it warms my heart when I see my dog wagging her tail when I arrive home. Seeing her loving eyes when she welcomes me home is already a beauty of the day.

I remember the little flowers along the little road that I pass everyday. It gives me joy even on a day when my heart is so low.

I remember the little birds that often sing near my window early in the morning. What a beautiful song they sing for me! What a beautilful way to start the day!

I remember that some night the moon and the stars are especially brighter than some other nights. When I look at them I could feel both joy, peace and hope.

All of these beauty and joy, I don't have to spend money for them at all.
